Parse.ly Design System

Introduction of a robust design systematization process that tokenizes variables and places them across the product experience.

When I joined the product team there wasn't a set of standards for how the design of the product should be laid out. Due to this, entry for all styling in the product was manual, and thus out of sync across the codebase. Taking on the initiative to curb our 161 colors used in app and over 1000 different pixel sizing values, I created a regimented but flexible design system that covers color, type, composition, and layering. This design system was made to be a developer tool, so beyond documentation everything was instituted under a cross-app variable system.
